London. One of the most iconic places in the world! Bursting with so many places to visit, eat and drink. I recently took a short trip down to visit my best friend who lives down there. We had the most girly, luxurious and carefree day, filled with laughter, cake and of course, alcohol… it would be rude not to! In my opinion, the best way to relax and unwind and have a much needed catch up! Here’s what we got up to…
The first place we visited was the Ham Yard Hotel for a light bite before we headed for afternoon tea. The weather was lovely, and the sun was shining, (what a bonus!) so we sat outside in the courtyard. It felt like we were on holiday! I wish.
We ordered two small plates to share; Chilli marinated halloumi, and Chorizo hash croissant, flushed down with a refreshing Ham Yard Spritz. These went down a little too well…
After this, we strolled around London until we reached our next destination; Fortnum and Mason for Afternoon Tea. Now this was a treat, and who doesn’t love afternoon tea?!
The place was divine, and the service was spectacular. We entered the lift to the Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon, where we were greeted and taken to our seats. There was a large choice of tea to choose from, but we both opted for the classic breakfast blend. And as it was a treat, we pushed the boat out and had half a bottle of champagne! As a one off, why not?! (Any excuse!)
The food was delicious and if you wanted more, you could… at no extra cost! So once I had finished my two scones, the lady came up and asked if I wanted more. Now those who know me well, will know I LOVE scones, so obviously I said yes! So… I ate four scones, and did I feel guilty… not one bit! (Don’t judge). I am all about balance and not being strict with myself. A one-off, pure-indulgent day is definitely needed every so often! After all, cake is the way to my heart!
After a good, couple of hours of non-stop talking, laughing, eating and drinking, we reluctantly had to leave. I would definitely recommend Afternoon Tea here, (the photos don’t do it justice). I may have to take my mum!
Afterwards, we headed for the tube, straight to Kensington. We strolled around the mews and took pretty photos. Oh, the dream to own one of those gorgeous houses…
Yes, I want to own a pink house!
To finish off the perfect, girly day, we stayed in Kensington and headed straight to Babylon Bar: a rooftop bar with views of London. This is great spot to chill and soak in the vibrant atmosphere, as people slowly begin the start of their Saturday night. The staff were brilliant – very attentive and friendly, and I couldn’t pick a better spot to finish the day off! Plus, there were flamingos in the gardens beneath. That’s right… real-life flamingos! Definitely go check this place out if you are in the area!
My total style obsession this summer has been off-the-shoulder, Bardot style tops.
Easy to style, and can be worn for any occasion! A must have wardrobe piece!
So, if you fancy a girly day out in London with a sprinkling of self-indulgence, I highly recommend going to these places! I honestly couldn’t have had a better day!
If you can recommend any places that you love, I’d love to hear them! I’m already planning my next visit…
