My Surprise Beauty Favourite

Hi Everyone!!

Thought I’d throw a beauty post in the mix! Over the past few months I have been asked frequently what foundation I’m wearing. They are always surprised to find out it’s a BB Cream!

Back a few months ago in June, ok, more than a few months now… I can’t believe we are already at the end of October! Summer seems so long ago! Anyway, before I blabber on about how fast this year has gone, back in June I bought the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions BB cream. This intro sounds so dramatic, I know.

Anyway, unlike what I usually do, I didn’t do much research into this product before I bought it… it was kinda just a whim purchase. I wanted a tinted cream (with SPF) to wear whilst on holiday when I didn’t want to wear foundation. I’ve tried numerous BB creams in the past and never really liked any of them. So on an impulse, whilst shopping in Boots I came across this and was instantly intrigued. It is catered for blemish prone skin (definitely me) and it comes in a few different shades:

  • light
  • medium
  • medium deep
  • deep

As I am guilty of fake tanning and with holidays coming up where I will naturally tan anyway, I got the ‘medium’ shade. Before buying I was slightly put off with the hefty price tag (£28!)… Almost as much as my beloved Nars Sheer Glow Foundation! But I knew I hadn’t seen anything else, so I bit the bullet and got it. I’m so glad I did! Clinique make-up isn’t raved about enough in my opinion! Especially this product! I’m usually persuaded into getting beauty products after reading blog posts or watching YouTube videos!

This is the description of the product online:

A mattifying BB Cream specifically developed for blemish-prone or oily skins. Combines oil control, buildable coverage and UVA/UVB protection for a protected, shine-free complexion. Lightweight, shakewell formula delivers a freshly-mixed application every time. Wears beautifully for 12-hours. Oil-free.

It is definitely buildable coverage, and quite mattifying, although not too much as I prefer glowy finishes rather than the matt look.

12 hours coverage? I’m not too sure about this claim, but it does last a full day on me without having to top up… even in hot weather! Yes, it doesn’t melt off your skin in the heat!!

It says ‘shakewell formula’… you definitely need to shake this well before you use it, or it will come out super runny and uneven in colour. Trust me, not a good look! Now more about the formula. It is a very thin, almost watery like consistency. But do not fear, a little goes a long way with this and with excellent coverage too. Bonus!

It blends easily and stays put all day. No need to top up with powder. I reach for this product now more than my Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, which is a major shocker as this is my Holy Grail foundation and didn’t think anything could replace this base!

Another major plus is that it seems to last forever! Like I said earlier, I bought it in June, have worn it almost every day and it still feels like there is so much product left in it! It’s now nearly November!

So, would I buy this again? 100%

Should you? Definitely!

If you don’t want to wear foundation every day but still want a bit of coverage, this is perfect. Don’t be put off by the price. It has honestly surprised me with how much I do love this product! Hence why I’m writing this post!

Photo of me wearing the BB cream without a filter (just very good lighting). I love it!
