So last weekend was my birthday and for those who know me well, will know that Breakfast and Brunch is my favourite meal, EVER! Naturally, rather than a slap up meal, I go for a slap up Brunch…
I was in London over the weekend with my best friend and London isn’t exactly short on choice. It took me ages to decide where to go! I love pancakes, and I’m pretty sure this is how I stumbled across Christopher’s. What stood out for me was the ‘Build your own pancakes’ section of the menu. The dream. I checked out their Instagram (to stalk photos of the food, of course), and it became apparent that this was the perfect choice. I quickly booked it online and for days later I was constantly on the website looking at the menu trying to decide what to pick. Sad, but true!
First of all, Brunch is from 11.30am until 3.30pm. But make sure you don’t turn up any earlier if you have booked for 11.30am, as I did, as the doors don’t open until this time and you won’t be let in! Christopher’s from the outside is a grand building and it certainly has the same effect when inside. Upon entering and after you check-in, you are guided up a magnificent staircase into the equally magnificent Dining Room where we were then taken to our seats. There is a definite ‘wow’ factor, which for a birthday celebration, is what you want. The Dining Room is both classic and contemporary with booth seating (who doesn’t love a booth?!) I was very happy to be seated in one of these! The staff were spot on and I could not fault the service. Anyway, let’s get the best bit… the food!
Now, I’m just putting it out there, the food was that good, I ended up having a three-course meal. Yep. Three meals for one person… I told you brunch is my favourite! There is such a wide variety of food, I couldn’t decide on one! I started off with the ‘Avocado and Tomato Toast’ from the Superfood menu as I wanted something savoury and you can’t beat avo on toast! And then onto the best bit… build your own pancakes! This is just perfect. I chose the blueberry buttermilk pancakes with mixed berries and blueberry compote. But there are a range of toppings to choose from including multiple choices of ice-cream, nutella, bacon, the list goes on! These were amazing. So thick and fluffy, quite possibly the best pancakes I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot!) I wanted to get another portion! But then I saw someone on another table with the Chocolate Brioche French Toast. Uh ohhhh. I’d seen this all over Instagram from my previous stalking. Does anyone else do this?! I’d never had French Toast before and I thought I’d just play it safe with the pancakes. Just to clarify, the pancakes were filling and a great portion size for the price. I didn’t order another meal because I wasn’t full and the portions were small; I’m just greedy!
As I was saying, I’d seen the French Toast on Christopher’s Instagram page, and thought they looked pretty epic, and after seeing someone else with them, I couldn’t resist. It would be rude not to on my birthday! So after I had demolished the pancakes I ordered the French Toast. Oh-my-days. These were ridiculously good. I don’t know what French Toast is meant to taste like but these were amazing! They even came out with a massive sparkler singing ‘Happy Birthday’. I felt like a kid again! My friend shared it with me as I was slowing sinking into a food coma, (story of my life). She also agreed that the French Toast was amazing! I’m starting to drool as I type!
Overall, I couldn’t fault a thing! Great service, amazing food and obviously great company! In my eyes I couldn’t have picked a better place! I definitely need to go back and sample the whole menu…
